Mabry Hosts Visitors from the Republic of Georgia
Mabry was honored today to host visitors from the Republic of Georgia: Lasha, a University Math professor and curriculum designer; Shorena, a principal at one of their nation's premier schools in the capitol; Teona, who trains teachers; and Merab, from the Ministry of Education. They were very familiar with MabryOnline and our work at Mabry Middle School. We also welcomed Hoke Wilcox (Georgia's Educational Technology Training Center) and Cindy Papp (Georgia Department of Education), who were hosts for our guests' visit here in the state of Georgia.
We shared with our visitors information about many aspects of our school, including school governance, curriculum, professional development, technology integration, the textbook adoption process, and the PTSA. They met with several of our students who shared with them information about our school from a student's point of view.
They were originally scheduled to spend only a couple of hours at Mabry, but they were so impressed with what we are doing that they reworked their schedule to spend the afternoon with us as well, visiting classes and seeing teachers teach and students learn. Our 6th grade Social Studies students in Mrs. Miceli's classes also had the opportunity to ask our guests questions about their country, which was a part of the former Soviet Union.
In the next few days, we will host 2 podcasts created as a product of their visit. Stay tuned!
