CRCT TESTING HINTS

You want to be rested and ready for the CRCT. That means you need a good night’s sleep each night and a good breakfast each morning. You also need to arrive at school in time to get ready for the day without rushing. The following may be helpful as you get mentally prepared for testing.

• Pay close attention to the directions.
• Be sure to mark your answers in the correct section and next to the correct number.
• The test lasts 5 days and covers Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies.
• Wrong answers do NOT count against your score. Do not skip any questions because you are not sure of the answer.
• If you are not sure of an answer, try to eliminate two of the choices and guess between the other two.
• Try to answer all questions in order without skipping around so that you do not lose your place on the answer sheet.
• Read ALL the answer choices before you mark your final answer. Sometimes answers may be somewhat alike or may seem possible but not be entirely correct.
• Watch wording. Look for words such as “not” or “least” or “always” or “most”.
• In reading comprehension, read the questions before you read the passage so that you know what to look for.
• Estimate math questions. It might help you eliminate one or more answers.
• Pace yourself so that you do not spend too much time on one question. However, there should be plenty of time for everyone to finish, so do not rush either.
• Review your answers if you finish before time is up.
• Just because other students in your classroom are finished does mean that you are about out of time or need to rush. Your teacher will post how much time you have left. This is not a race. It does not matter whether you finish first, last, or somewhere in between.
• Relax. Most students at Mabry do very well on this test. You can be one of them if you take the time to read carefully, think through all of your answers, and mark your answer sheet carefully.

THOSE OF YOU WHO WERE NOT IN CLASS ON FRIDAY, YOU HAVE TO TAKE NOTES OVER CH.23:3 GOVERNMENT. DUE MON. BE SURE TO HAVE THE EQ FOR BOTH 23:2 AND 23:3 READY TO HAND IN FOR A GRADE.
