« Physical Geography of Southern and Eastern Asia | Main | Demonstration of 2-Column Note taking »

September 07, 2006
Thursday Sept.7

We have been studying the physical features of Asia and the how they affect the land and its people. The students have in their possession a map of the region and will have a quiz over the rivers and deserts on Monday. We will tackle the mountains at a later date. Today the students will answer our last 2 questions about mountains and rivers and begin Climate and Resources p.498-501,

To better facilitate their note taking skills, I am requiring that they follow these steps:
1. Read the selection first
2. Develop an effective question from the subheading ( Ask: what was the main idea of the information ?)
3. Write that question in the left column
4. Answer the question in the right column, identifying the main idea(s), supporting details, and vocabulary ( do not use complete sentences, paraphrase)
5. At the end of their notes they will be required to draw conclusions and summarize an answer for their essential question in paragraph form.

Tuesday 9/12 we will be observing Constitution Day with a special look at the first amendment.

Chapter 24 test will be next Wednesday 9/14.

Did you know that a fifth ocean was named in the year 2000? What is it?
