The students read and took 2 column notes over China's economy pgs. 529-531, defined key voc., and answered the EQ. We have discussed the successes and failures of the communist and capitalist economies in China. Cause and effect: population growth vs government unable to feed everyone, people wanting several children vs government's failure to promote one child policy, scarcity of land vs food shortage. Students have learned that there is great economic upheaval in East Asia. Private enterprise has alleviated some problems and caused others, example: the "Iron Rice Bowl" Pacific Rim countries Taiwan, South Korea and Hong Kong, China have become "economic miracles" by increasing trade.
Students are to finish their note taking for Government pgs. 532-534, define key voc., and answer the EQ for Tuesday.
