Today we started Ch 3 (Percents). The new Assignment Guide was given out. Please see previous blog entry to download a copy of it. We discussed rate, ratio, proportion and percent. We completed a worksheet on converting ratios and rates. The Ch 2 Tests were returned today along with a ditto showing all of the problems, work and solutions.

Today we used a self-check worksheet (ws A-46) to practice equations with integers, and distributive property. These equations are challenging and are very important to master. Keep working on them until you understand how to do each one. Remember - Ch 2 Test is Wednesday, Sept. 28th. Ask questions and get help if needed!

Today our class was cut short due to the 4 1/2 week block party. Our lesson for today is on probability and how it is used in geometry. Our assignment includes some review problems so we can begin preparing for our test next week. Here's a hint for the test - make sure your notebook "dictionary section" is up to date before Tuesday. Today we took the Ch 1 Test. A logic puzzle was assigned (What's on the floor in the store?)

-solve equations by using the addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division properties of equality
-demonstrate the steps used to solve equations
-demonstrate how to check the solution
-evauate expressions including exponents
-convert expressions to exponents
-solve expressions by substituting values for variables
-solve expressions using the order of operations rules
-demonstrate the steps used to solve inequalities
-demonstrate how to check the solution
-convert written expressions and equations to algebraic expressions and equations
-solve 2 step equations
-demonstrate the steps used to solve 2 step equations
-use the distributive property to solve equations
-check solutions to 2 step equations
-graph inequalities on a number line.

For 1st, 2nd, and 3rd periods we reviewed for the Ch 1 test today by playing Jeopardy. Here is a link to download the game if you'd like to practice at home. Download file Notebook is due on Thursday.
For 7th we will review for the test by playing Jeopardy tomorrow (Thurs 9/8). Notebook will be due tomorrow (9/8) also.

Today we have worked on inequalities. We played a game called "Is that true?" The Ch 1 notebook is due on Thurs and the Ch 1 Test is on Fri. Study!!

Today we finfished Performance Series testing. We worked on lesson 1.3 - Collinearity and Betweeness. Have a great holiday!
Skills:-recognize collinear and noncollinear points.
-recognize when a point can be said to be between 2 others.
-recognize that each side of a triangle is shorter than the sum of the other 2 sides.
-use triangle inequality rules.
-correctly interpret geometric designs.

Today we participated in Accelerated Math - a computerized math program that allows students to work individually on the skills they need to improve on. There is no homework this weekend. Relax and have a great holiday.

Today we worked with Two Step Equations. Students received their quiz from ch 1. We went over how to solve a logic puzzle using the table (grid).
