Science Vocabulary of the Week (SVW)

Week 1

1. Qualitative Observations- observations that describe the world using words only. Ex. The walls in the science classroom are painted white. These types of observations use the five senses to gather information.

2. Quantitative Observations- observations that are measurable and describe the world using words and numbers. Ex. There are four white walls in the science classroom. They are 2.5 m high and 10 m wide.

Week 2

3. Aesthetic-very sensitive to or fond of beauty and/or order (as in visual presentation). The second floor of the nature center offers an aesthetic view.
4. Collaboration- working together, as on literary or scientific efforts to reach a common goal. Students are often engaged in peer collaboration and team building in my science class.
