The two-minute film will have a unifying concept that is developed by the team and supported by research. The video theme should be derived from the 7th grade science curriculum standards. Getting Started: The video clips are available for use at school only. They are from the southern region of Africa- the Okavango Delta region of Botswana, Lake Karibe area in Zimbabwe, and some footage of Victoria Falls in Zambia (no wildlife). These video clips were taken by our own Mr. Swanson. Some video clips of South American wildlife have been made available as well. They are in a folder called Linblad on the server. Linblad has also provided us with video from Antarctica. You will be organized into teams to explore the video clips that are available and begin the process of deciding a film concept. Team members will be seated together at the computers to quietly discuss ideas. The video clips are organized into folders on the server and you will want to look at several to get a feel for possible themes to research. I recommend that you keep a list of folders and clips that you have seen and something about each so that you can find those that interest you again later. The clips in different folders sometimes have the same animal names so take notes on where you are looking. Here is a list of curriculum related ideas to help with topic selection: Relationships and interactions among organisms- competition, predation, symbiosis Energy flow in the ecosystem- food webs Recycling matter from organisms and the environment Adaptations of specific organisms of the ecosystem Limiting factors for populations Energy roles- producers, consumers (herbivores, carnivores, omnivores, scavengers), decomposers Characteristics of the biome abiotic and biotic Environmental issues relating to the habitat and survival of its members Anthropogenic issues relating to species survival, cultural or otherwise Species classification and relatedness of species See me to discuss ideas that you have that are not on the listyou need my approval Getting to the video clips in the maclab: Logon with your student number using your number as your password Select desktop GO tab at top; dropdown menu last row is Connect to Server Use 10.86.1.19 Use same student number Select video clips Project Timeline: Feb. 28th , March 1st, March 2nd - Maclab Explore available video clips, research, decide documentary theme (classwork grade performance and participation) Brainstorm ideas for your video. Research the biome; research the inhabitants and their relationships to one another; research the issues. As a team, complete research requirements for your video. Create and keep the bibliography of your sources using correct form (use your note cards- the bibliography is due later). Decide on one idea and develop your thesis statement. Due date- Tuesday, March 7th (Thesis statement-group, research requirements- group, article summary one per group member). Create a storyboard for your idea (consider the strategies of good film making). Outline your message/storyline and write your 1st draft. Edit for organization, clarity, and impact. Read the script out loud, while timing it. Try-out several voices from your team. Decide on the voice(s) and practice the timing and tone of delivery. Edit and finalize the voice-over / script (must be less than 2 min. so aim for 1min. 50 sec.) Remember that you need to have time for credits and opening title. Final script with bibliography (typed) is due on Friday, March 10th. Laptops will be assigned on March 13th and available through the 17th Record your voice over component in the Language Arts lab on March 14th and 15th. Select clips and stills that match to your storyline and import them to your laptop. Locate music/sound that matches your video project (instrumental is usually best). Use iMovie to line up your video and voice. Work on the opening title frames and closing credits too. Add music track, as needed, to provide impact, mood, etc. Edit to make the transitions and timing perfect! Finished product is due on March 17th. Some members may want to use Cobb online resources, reserved bookshelf of resources, or my bookmarked sites to research ideas as they arise. Remember, you may not do an internet search (like through Google) from school. I have bookmarked some sites on Trackstar for you. Visit my blog to link directly to track # 245857 You will be required to submit a bibliography with this research project, so make bibliography cards for the sources that you use and keep them in your teams project folder. Remember to use your textbook, chapters 22, 23, and 24 for general information about ecology and biome concepts. $.')Qab 3 <,mor ߿߿ѷѷ߿߿߿hch 5\hd$h H*hd$h 5H*hnh H* hnh hd$h hd$h 5 h 5h Yh H*hnh 5h 5"#$PQb9 : B k U K Zigd $a$gd iFg ;<,rs aYgd gd 1h/ =!"#$%@@@ NormalCJ_HaJmH sH tH DA@D Default Paragraph FontRiR Table Normal4 l4a (k(No List(!z z "#$PQb9:BkUK Z i F g ; < ,rs aY 0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ@0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ@0ʀ@0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ@0ʀ@0ʀ@0ʀ@0ʀ@0ʀ@0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ00ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ0ʀ00ʀ0ʀ0ʀit{ } # C _g :::::| fގ>nh^`OJQJo(hHh^`OJQJ^Jo(hHohpp^p`OJQJo(hHh@ @ ^@ `OJQJo(hHh^`OJQJ^Jo(hHoh^`OJQJo(hHh^`OJQJo(hHh^`OJQJ^Jo(hHohPP^P`OJQJo(hHh^`OJQJo(hHh^`OJQJ^Jo(hHohpp^p`OJQJo(hHh@ @ ^@ `OJQJo(hHh^`OJQJ^Jo(hHoh^`OJQJo(hHh^`OJQJo(hHh^`OJQJ^Jo(hHohPP^P`OJQJo(hH>n| @S=~@ @UnknownGTimes New Roman5Symbol3 Arial?
