We have been studying the biography of Edgar Allan Poe, and how his personal tragedies have influenced his literary pieces. The students have really enjoyed our most recent Poe classic, "The Tell-Tale Heart"! We have been analyzing the story by utilizing the vocabulary in descriptive sentences and have been completing the mystery criteria handouts. Next Tuesday, Oct. 31, our Poe projects are due. Your child has a copy of the requirements. I am looking forward to some outstanding projects!! Tomorrow, we will also be reading "The Black Cat", and comparing and contrasting the two short stories.

Our final copies of our persuasive essays are due Monday, Oct. 16, 2006. We have just finished our story, "Flowers for Algernon", and my classes will be receiving a list of project choices that will be worked on at home. Please remember that next week is conference week, so be sure to check your calendars. I am looking forward to conferencing with my students' parents!
