CRCT Testing Tips for Students

Students, here are just a few reminders and tips for the CRCT.

Pay close attention to the directions.
Be sure to mark your answers in the correct section and next to the correct number.
Wrong answers do NOT count against your score. Do not skip any questions because you are not sure of the answer.
If you are not sure of an answer, try to eliminate two of the choices and guess between the other two.
Read ALL the answer choices before you mark your final answer. Sometimes answers may be somewhat alike or may seem possible but not be entirely correct.
Watch wording. Look for words such as “not” or “least” or “always” or “most”.
In reading comprehension, read the questions before you read the passage so that you know what to look for.
Estimate math questions. It might help you eliminate one or more answers.
Review your answers if you finish before time is up.
Just because other students in your classroom are finished does mean that you are about out of time or need to rush. Your teacher will post how much time you have
left. This is not a race. It does not matter whether you finish first, last, or somewhere in between.
