We have started our Pop Art projects and are in the process of firing the African masks. Some masks have already been lost to the heat!!

Portraits

8th graders have started their self - portriats using a grid. We are working on realism. Some students are finishing their cartoons and reading portrait reading assignment.

8th grade students are finishing their version of Aboriginal art, the Native American coil pots are slowly coming out of the kiln.

First Art Club Meeting

The first meeting of the art club went well.We discussed the expectations and projects. We will be changing the meetings to the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month instead of Thurs. we are looking forward to painting the van. Don't forget your permission slips.

What is Color Theroy?

The sixth grade students have begun a unit on color theroy. They painted a rainbow tribe using the colorwheel.

How are Japanese Tea Bowls constructed?

The 7th grade students learned how important tea bowls and their potters are to a tea ceremony in Japan. Some potters are considered "National Teasures".

Students are creating their own tea bowls.

What is the oldest American art form?

The 8th grade students are creating coil pots with Indian red clay. They are using the coil method of clay building.

Skills
Students will complete a functional pot using the coil method of clay building.
Students will understand that pottery is the oldest American art form.
