Pronoun tests were returned and checked today in class.
As a foundation for our next book, The Wave, students were introduced to a list of words having to do with discrimination. Among the terms were prejudice, stereotype, scapegoat, racism, and pluralism. Tomorrow we will read a short piece, "The Greenies", which will open up discussion about prejudice. This book and its entire unit also serves as a foundation for the Anne Frank/Holocaust unit at the end of the year.
I would like to see all students with a copy of The Wave by Todd Strasser by a week from Friday. Please let me know if you are having trouble finding a copy or if you need assistance in any way.
Below is a link to Amazon, but I believe the local book stores should have enough copies of the book. PLEASE purchase a paperback format since we will probably be doing underlining, writing, etc. in the book itself. You may ask neighbors, siblings, or acquaintances who have had me as a teacher. You may use their copies, perhaps! Used books are encouraged and welcomed!
