Today,we worked on the read over The lesson on CLimate and Resources, Pages 498 -501 and completed questions on pages 495 & 501 .

Today,we begin Lesson 1 Landforms from Chapter 24. Reading about the mountain ranges,rivers, deserts and other landforms that affect the people of this region. After reading pages 490 -495 we completed a cloze acitivity.

Week of August 28 - Sept. 2

This week we will begin studying the physical geography of Asia. As we begin, we will look at and learn the major landforms(mountain ranges, rivers, deserts) and how they affect the people and the landscape. We will use the text Chapter 24 pages 490 - 503 as a begining point. Wednesday the studnts will need colored pencils or crayons for class. The three main sections of Asia we will explore are: Southern- the Indian subcontinent, Eastern- China, Mongolia,the Korean peninsula,Japan and Southeastern Asia- Vietnam,Laos,through Indonesia.

The current event with the summary for Group B is due Friday Sept.2 .

Week of August 22- 26

We had a great start to the year! We have started our study of the Five Themes of Geography, latitude and longitude practice and Chapter 1 work. Chapter 1 (pages 2-33) prepares for us for our studies for the year by helping us to understand physical and cultural geography. We will also be reviewing different kinds and uses of maps. The first group of students have been assigned a current event activity of reading a article on an event that is happening in the world now. They are to bring in the article they read, with a summary to share with the class. Group A's assignment is due Friday 8/26. Wednesdays are social studies classes D.E.A.R. time. Have a book to read!

** Student will have a quiz over Chapter 1, The five Themes of Geography and latitude and longitude on Friday Aug. 26. Start review now !

We all all very excited about the great start of the new school year !
I hope that the blog will be helpful to the student and parents during the year. A sucessful year for each student is our goal. Assignments,tests and upcoming events will be posted on a regular basis.
