No homework tonight! After the dictation quiz, we'll learn to say numbers 0-10 and see them in writing tomorrow. There will be a small amount of homework to complete over the weekend. We will finish our "posters" and share them tomorrow in class.
Bonsoir!

Continue to study the alphabet with the addition of the accents. You have a dictation quiz on Thursday (Madame will read letters - you write them down. The letters form words which form French phrases!) We'll play the same game tomorrow as we did today with the addition of the accents!

Bonsoir et à demain.

Bonsoir, mes élèves!
I enjoyed our first week together! I hope you did, also!
This weekend, visit the following sites. The second site has a great feature – a self test button – try it! C’est chouette!
Swarthmore Alphabet
Alphabet Plus Self Test
Additionally, finish preparing the dictionary section (Mon dictionnaire français) of your notebook. Add the four greetings vocabulary words we learned this week.
Bon weekend et à lundi.

I found out why my PowerPoint would not load as a ppt and a pdf file. It is an 18 megabite ppt and became a 66 megabite pdf! Dr. Tyson and I are working on how best to upload files when they are so large.
In the meantime...
Tomorrow's quiz covers the following four words:
bonjour
Monsieur
Madame
Mademoiselle
On the quiz, you will write the appropriate greeting for different school personnel - the pictures come from the ppt and the "masks." Several bonus questions will be included!

A demain,
Madame

Complete the worksheet you received in class today; write observations about the French translation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
Have a parent read and sign our class syllabus and complete the back of the information sheet. Both of these papers were handed out in class, and they are provided below (just in case!).

Welcome to an exciting year of French learning and fun! Don't be alarmed when you discover where the new French room is located. It is on the exploratory hall across from the Chorus room AND it contains 32 computers for our daily use! We will grow not only our knowledge of French and French culture, but also our ability to learn, practice and perform using a myriad of technology applications. The set up of our room is a dream come true. I have heard WONDERFUL things from this year's 8th graders, so I know I will have plenty of support from students. Parents are invited to experience the fun and share their expertise with Mabry's French students.
J'attends avec enthousiasme la rentrée.
À bientôt,
Madame Israel-Hiles
