Students will read the article "How cells work?-Cell parts". They will contrast Bacterial cells to Human cells and write two paragraphs in their own words. Each paragraph should be atleast 8-10 sentences long.
They are only required to read the Cell parts. The assignment is due on Monday: September 26th. Students can type the assignment if they want.

Students will be finishing their Osmosis lab tomorrow. They had been observing the effects on their eggs by adding different liquids on it.
Test and Notebook Quiz have been returned. Students did very good on the test.
This week we will continue studying different methods of transporting materials. On Wednesday students will write a lab report on the Osmosis lab.
Standards:
Standard Element: S7L5.1.a
Explain that cells take in nutrients in order to grow and divide and to make needed materials.
Skills:
Students will define Osmosis, diffusion, active and Passive transport.
Students will identify Osmosis and diffusion.
Students will compare and contrast active and Passive transport.
Assessments:
Osmosis/Diffusion lab
Osmosis/Diffusion compare and contrast sheet.

Students had been studying different types of cell, organelles and their functions. To assess their understanding students created a "Cell City."Students did an excellent job on the "Cell City" project. The project has been graded and will be returned on Monday.
Standards:
Standard Element: S7L5.1.a
Explain that cells take in nutrients in order to grow and divide and to make needed materials.
Standard Element: S7L5.1.b
Relate cell structures (cell membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm, chloroplasts, mitochondria) to basic cell functions.
Skills:
Students will compare and contrast plant, animal and Bacterial cells.
Students will compare the atmosphere of early Earth with today's atmosphere.
Students will understand different methods of transport.
This week we will work on Egg-speriment lab to understand function of the organelles. We will also look at different types of transports: Osmosis, diffusion and active transport.
September 12th:
Compare and contrast different types of cells
Read Chapter 1:sec 4
September 13th:
Egg-speriment lab: Students will measure the circumference of the egg and soak the egg for 2 days in Vinegar.
September 14th:
Notebook Quiz.
Home work:Review Guide due
Will go over the review guide.
September 15th:
TEST on Chapter 1.
Students will check the eggs that they had soaked in Vinegar.
Homework: Vocabulary for Chapter 2.Due: Monday
September 16th:
Discussion on Diffusion,Osmosis and Active Transport.
DEAR.
