Students had been studying different types of cell, organelles and their functions. To assess their understanding students created a "Cell City."Students did an excellent job on the "Cell City" project.The project has been graded and will be returned on Monday.
Standards:
Standard Element: S7L5.1.a
Explain that cells take in nutrients in order to grow and divide and to make needed materials.
Standard Element: S7L5.1.b
Relate cell structures (cell membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm, chloroplasts, mitochondria) to basic cell functions.
Skills:
Students will compare and contrast plant, animal and Bacterial cells.
Students will compare the atmosphere of early Earth with today's atmosphere.
Students will understand different methods of transport.
This week we will work on Egg-speriment lab to understand function of the organelles. We will also look at different types of transports: Osmosis, diffusion and active transport.
September 12th:
Compare and contrast different types of cells
Read Chapter 1:sec 4
September 13th:
Egg-speriment lab: Students will measure the circumference of the egg and soak the egg for 2 days in Vinegar.
September 14th:
Notebook Quiz.
Home work:Review Guide due
Will go over the review guide.
September 15th:
TEST on Chapter 1.
Students will check the eggs that they had soaked in Vinegar.
Homework: Vocabulary for Chapter 2.Due: Monday
September 16th:
Discussion on Diffusion,Osmosis and Active Transport.
