Class Notes for: 1/31/06

Today in class we worked on the warm up.
Warm up # 6:
How are red tides caused?
How are red tides dangerous to humans?

The answer to the first question is red tides are caused due to increase in nutrients.
The second answer is toxins get accumulated in the shell fish which might be dangerous if humans consumed it.

If you have not turned in your illustration from last week, your name was listed on the board. We studied Plant-like Protists (Also known as Algae) for the beginning of class. Mrs. Kulkarni gave us a list of all the examples of protists on the board, and we were given a sheet of paper to work on. In groups we were to make a Concept Map, or Mind Map, on protists illustrating all of the examples.

Today's homework was to bring colored pencils.
