Class Notes For Second Period

January 25,2006 Essential Question: What are protists? What are protozoans?

We did warm up #2 today. The questions are, what is the function of a contractile vacuole, and write the name of a protozoan with a psuedopod. The answers are, contractile vacuoles collect extra water and expel it, and the protozoan with a psuedopod is an ameba.

We discussed in class the three fungus like protists. They are mold, mildew, and slime mold. Mold lives in water, mildew live in moist soil, and slime mold lives on decaying trees. We completed 7-1 in the workbook up to plants like protists.

Microscope quiz is on Friday.
