Last week we finished the gummi Bear lab and the microscope Mania. We discussed the latest science news about the eight planets.

Reminder: Project is due on Tuesday.

We will review for the lab safety, microscope and scientific method test tomorrow. Textbooks will also be issued tomorrow.

Tuesday students will take the test. They will complete the vocabulary for chapter 1 when they are finished.

Wednesday we will discuss living and nonliving things. We will talk about the needs of livings things. Students will work on a mindmap. They will illustrate all the needs of the living organisms on Butcher paper. They will work in groups for this activity.

Thursday students will finish the map and present it to the class. They will then have D.E.A.R for the rest of the class.

Friday we will talk about organs, tissues and organ system. Students will create a 4 tab book on cells, tissues, organ and organ system.
They will then read the article "How Cells work?" and summarize it.

For the next few weeks students will be working on the following skills.

Students will describe the structure and function of cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems.
Explain that cells take in nutrients in order to grow and divide and to make needed materials
Relate cell structures (cell membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm, chloroplasts, mitochondria) to basic cell functions.
