On Friday to review genetics and plants, students will be creating a plant using genetic engineering. They will use independent thinking skills and group cooperation to create a new plant that has a function that can be defended as useful for some purpose.
Students will brainstorm and generate list of characteristics of their plant on friday. Is it Vascular or non vascular? If it is Vascular will it reproduce by spore or seed? If it reproduces by seed will it be an angiosperm or a gymnosperm? If it is an angiosperm what kind of floweres will it produce? What is the color of the fruit?
They will then list the uses,its importance and how it was originally reproduced.
They can hand write or type the information and bring it on Monday.
They will be graded on content, creativity and cleanliness.

We will build a model of a virus on Friday. Materials required for the project are listed below. Students need to choose one or two items from each category and bring the materials in.
Category 1: Clay, Construction paper, Aluminium foil, Plastic wrap
Category 2: Thread, Strings, Tape
Category 3: Pipe Cleaners, Paper clips
Category 4: Tube, toilet paper roll, Straws
Scissors and Glue are required for the project.

To reinforce the scientific method students will work on a paper towel project. Students have a week to work on the project. The project is due on August 30th. Students will turn in the project sheet for a grade.
