I am so excited about our trip to Jekyll Island because we are going to have a blast! Don't forget, be in Mabry's front parking lot by 5:30 AM on your day of departure. Do not park on the curb, as this is where the busses will pull up for loading. Remember Ms. Larkin's three most important items NOT TO FORGET: linens (bedding and towels), rain gear, and extra shoes!
Have you hugged and thanked your parents for allowing you to go on this amazing trip?

All Jekyll Island medications should have been turned in by now. This includes prescription or daily meds, as well as over-the-counter or "just in case" drugs such as Tylenol or Pepto-Bismol. If you did not pick up a medication form at our parent meeting, you may fill one out when you drop your student's meds off with the school nurse. The only medicines that may be carried with or stored by the student are those that are immediately necessary in an emergency situation, such as inhalers, EpiPens, and insulin, (parents must still submit a medication form for these items).

Science teachers sent home a check sheet and payment envelope with students. The check sheet indicates what each student is missing. At this time, the second payment of $90.00 is due, but should be turned in by February 14th at the absolute latest. Also, there will be a Jekyll Island parent meeting on Monday, February 5th @ 6:30. At this meeting parents will receive a packing list, itinerary, and emergency contact information, as well as the opportunity to ask questions or turn in any last minute payments or papers. Chaperones will have a brief, but mandatory meeting following the general parent meeting.

The Jekyll Island trip will be cancelled if payments are not received by February. Only a third of students made the first payment of $100 in October, but now it is time for the final balance of $90 to be paid. We cannot continue to hold bus and hotel reservations without any funding. We are at risk of losing our reservations at the Jekyll Island 4-H Center, reservations that had to be made two years in advance due to the popularity of their wonderful program. Please do not allow your student to miss out on this educational opportunity!

We are in dire need of Jekyll money! We asked for the first deposit of $100 to be turned in during the month of October, but as of yet we have only received money from about a third of the 7th grade population. Though we do not want to leave any students behind for financial reasons, or worse yet, cancel the trip, we have fiscal obligations that need to be met to ensure this amazing field trip occurs. If you have not sent in the first deposit, please consider doing so now, even if your donation comes in smaller increments. The second deposit will be due in February. Thank you.

Any parents interested in chaperoning the Jekyll Island field trip should contact Varda Kulkarni. You may send a note to school with your child to room 7-D1 or send her an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include your name, your student's name, your student's science teacher, and which trip your student is going to be attending.
