Today we discussed 2 ways to find the percent of a number. You may either use an equation or proportion to find percents. We worked on a practice test in preparation for next Tuesday's Ch. 3 Test. There will be a study session on Monday morning at 8:20 a.m. The homework for tonight is to finish the practice test if you did not finish in class today.

Today we worked in class on determining ratios and unit rates, simplifying them and converting to percents. We covered 3-4 Fractions, Decimals and Percents. See today's class notes section to view the notes on this material. The homework for tonight is to complete Pg. 116(5-45 odd). Be sure to check your answers in the back of the book. The Ch. 3 Test will be one week from today, Tuesday, Oct. 3.

Today I passed back the Chapter 2 Test. If you scored a 79 or below, corrections are required and they are due at the beginning of class tomorrow. Period 3 saw their scores today, and they will receive their tests back tomorrow. Then we covered the first 3 sections from Chapter 3 as follows:
3-1 Ratios and Rates
3-2 Ratios and Percents
3-3 Solving Proportions

Today we checked and went over the homework from last night (Worksheets 76 & 77). Today, we continued to work on solving equations in class. The homework for tonight is Worksheet #78 ...More Mixed Practice. There will be a test this Friday on Solving Equations. There will also be a review session on Friday morning at 8:20 am.

Students and Parents, I apologize that this is the first blog that I have posted this week, as I have been out with 2 sick children. Anyway, today in class I passed back the Chapter 1 Test and I passed out progress reports (1st and 2nd only). Some students need to do test corrections and some students need to get their progress reports signed. For 1st and 2nd periods, there are 2 worksheets due on Monday. These are 1) Solving 2-step equations with integers and 2) Solving equations using the distributive property.

Today we checked the Chapter Study Guide and Assessment problems on pgs. 49-50. We then did an in-class review using dry erase boards. Tomorrow will be the Chapter 1 Test. There will also be a notebook check tomorrow. Check the class notes section of my blog for the Table of Contents #15-29.

Due to the testing schedule today, I saw only 1st, 2nd and 3rd periods. In those classes, we checked the homework (pg. 46 and Workbook Practice page 1-9. The students also turned in their quiz corrections from the Equations Quiz (see Tuesday, Sept. 5) class notes section for corrections procedures. I then assigned Chapter Study Guide and Assessment in their textbooks (pgs. 49-50; #9-41 all/44-47 all). The Chapter 1 Test will be this Friday, and there will be a review session tomorrow at 8:20 am. Please note that pgs. 49-50 is due for ALL classes tomorrow. (It was assigned to periods 6 & 7 on Tuesday).

Today I passed back the Equations Quiz and explained the procedures for corrections. We then covered 1.9 Solving Inequalities. The homework for tonight is pg. 46 (13-29 odd/do not graph) and Workbook Practice 1-9 (#1-11 all/do the graphs). There will be a Chapter 1 Test this Friday and a review session on Thursday morning at 8:20 am.

After we completed the warm-up and checked last night's homework, we worked on review problems in periods 1,2 and 3. Periods 6 and 7 worked on a very challenging Equation Match Activity (don't worry periods 1,2 and 3...you will get a chance to do this next week!). I will pass back the Equations Quiz on Tuesday. There is no homework this week-end...Have a Great Labor Day Week-end!
