Today we took an integer pop quiz. This will be the first activity grade for the next 9 weeks. We then spent the remainder of class working on the winter packets. There is no homework tonight.

Today I passed back the Chapter 8 Notebook Check. We then worked on Winter Packets in class. I also told the students their 9-week averages today. If a student has a C or below, I sent home a progress report to get signed. There is no homework tonight.

Hello students and parents! Today, I passed back the Chapter 8 Test. If a student scored a "C" or below, I will work with them individually in class tomorrow while the remainder of the class is working on Winter Math Packet (to be passed out on Tuesday). I then collected the Chapter 8 Notebook. Please note that this will be the LAST notebook check. After the winter break, I will no longer be doing notebook checks. However, all students are expected to maintain an organized math notebook until the end of the school year. We then played a great game: Integer Bingo. This was wonderful for reviewing our integer rules. The winners will receive their prizes tomorrow. There is no homework for tonight. Parents, please check I-Parent to see your child's average. If a student has a C or below, I will send home a progress report tomorrow.
Note: 7th period tests will be passed back tomorrow.

Today we went over the Mock Test in class. Then we reviewed for the test using whiteboards. Tomorrow we will have the Chapter 8 Test. There will be a study session in the morning at 8:20 am.
Parents and Students, Please be sure to check your school supplies. I have noticed that some students are coming to class without paper and/or pencil. Please re-stock your supplies, if necessary. Also, many of my students do not have calculators. I have some to loan out, however, it would be very helpful if each student had their own. We will be using these more frequently as we progress into the 2nd half of the year. Thank you!

Today in class we went over the homework that was assigned yesterday (Pgs. 374-376; #9-31 all). This is the Chapter Review at the end of Chapter 8. After taking questions on this assignment, I passed out a "Mock" Test with an answer key, so that you may check your answers. This will be due tomorrow. After going over questions from the "Mock" Test, we will review with whiteboards. The Chapter 8 Test will be Friday and there will be a study session Friday morning before school beginning at 8:20 am. The notebook for Chapter 8 will be due on Monday, December 18. The notebook contents are as follows:

Today we went over 8-6 Simple Interest. This is a great lesson, because there is considerable "everyday life applicability" with this topic. Anyway, the homework for tonight is to complete Workbook Practice 8-6 (#1-17 all). The Chapter 8 Test is tentatively scheduled for next Tuesday, however, I am seriously considering moving it up to this Friday if we can be ready for it. I will blog daily about the test date and we will discuss in class. There will be a notebook check for Chapter 8 and I will post the table of contents by mid-week. The notebook check will be due on Monday, Dec. 18. Have a good evening!

Whew! What a week it has been...I apologize for not posting a blog since Tuesday. I was out unexpectedly Wed and Thurs with a sick child. So, in this blog, I want to summarize/recap the week. On Wednesday, my substitute checked and took questions over Workbook Practice 8-5. He then passed out 2 worksheets for the students to complete for homework (to be due Thursday): 1) "Did you hear about..." worksheet (percents) and Percent of Change worksheet (1/2 sheet of paper with 10 word problems). On Thursday, the students worked on 2 more worksheets: 1) Practice Fraction Problems and 2)"What do you get when you..." (percent of increase/decrease word problems). Today, we regrouped...I passed back the quiz and students completed quiz corrections in class and turned them in. We then worked on Accelerated Math. As for the work this week...I took a homework grade for Workbook Practice 8-5. I collected the 2 worksheets which were passed on Wednesday. You should place the worksheets from Thursday in your math notebooks for the next notebook check. There is no homework this week-end. Have a good one!

I will pass back your quizzes tomorrow. The Chapter 8 Test will be on Tuesday, December 19th.

Today I reviewed for about 10 minutes, then we took a quiz over 8-1 through 8-4. Several people did not finish the quiz, so you will have some class time to complete them tomorrow. There is no homework tonight.
Please remember that this Wednesday is an Early Release Day for students.

Today we checked and went over the homework: Workbook Practice 8-4. We then spent the remainder of classtime working on Accelerated Math. Please remember that there will be a quiz on Monday covering 8-1 through 8-4. There will be a study session on Monday morning beginning at 8:20 am.
