First of all, I apologize for not posting a blog yesterday. I had the funniest feeling when I left work yesterday that I was forgetting something...well, I forgot to blog! So, let's review Tuesday then Wednesday as follows:
Tuesday: We checked the Volume worksheet, reviewed the volume formulas and then took a quiz on 11-1 through 11-4. The homework assigned was to complete CRCT Review Packet #2.
Wednesday: We completed a warm-up activity on simplifying expressions. We then checked CRCT Packet #2. I will take questions on this tomorrow. Finally, we covered 11-5 Surface Area of Prisms. The homework is to complete Workbook Practice 11-5 (#1-11 all/OMIT #7). The Chapter 11 Test will be next Thursday. All classes be sure to check the notes posted from today's lesson, as I did different examples in the afternoon.

Today we continued to work on our warm-up activity of simplifying expressions with the distributive property. We then checked the homework (Workbook Practice 11-4, #1-11 all). We then reviewed for the tomorrow's quiz. The homework tonight is to complete the worksheet passed out in class today. The quiz will cover 11-1, 11-2, 11-3 and 11-4. There will be a study session tomorrow morning at 8;20 am.

Today we completed a warm-up activity on simplifying expressions. We then checked the homework (wkbk. practice 11-3). We then went over 11-4 Volume of Pyramids and Cones. The homework for this week-end is to complete the Workbook Practice 11-4 (1-11 all). #9 is more challenging. Please try your best on this problem. There will be a quiz on Tuesday, February 27. It will cover 11-1: Area of Circles; 11-2: 3-D Figures; 11-3: Volume of Prisms and Cylinders and 11-4: Volume of Pyramids and Cones. There will be a study session Tuesday morning before school. Please be sure to have your calculators!

Today we checked the homework assignment (Workbook Practice 7-7 and Workbook Practice 11-1). We then went over Lesson 11-2: 3-D Figures. The homework for tonight will be as follows:
Pg. 607; Lesson 1-8 (#1-6 all)
Pg. 625; Lesson 7-6 (#1-4 all)
Pg. 625; Lesson 7-7 (#1-6 all)
Pg. 636; Lesson 11-1 (#1-6 all)
There will be a quiz tomorrow over all material covered this week as follows: 1-8 Perimeter and Area; 7-6 Area of Triangles and Trapezoids; 7-7 Circumference of Circles; 11-1 Area of Circles. Thank you to Becky Johnson who taught these lessons to the students during my absence. The quiz will be open note/open book. The students should bring their formula sheets and a calculator.
I will have a study session before school tomorrow beginning at 8:20 am.

Today we completed a warm-up activity on simplifying expressions using the Distributive Property. We then checked the homework assignment from pages 617-619. The homework for tonight is to complete pages 224-226 (#1-17/#22-25/28/30/31; OMIT #3 and #9). The Chapter 5 Test is tomorrow and there will be a study session before school beginning between 8:15 and 8:20 am.
Please start bringing calculators next week. We will be starting our unit on Area and Volume.

Today we completed a "double" warm-up activity. First, we completed four 2-step equation problems, then we worked on 3 problems dealing with Similar Triangles. After checking the warm-up, we checked the homework. The assignment tonight is a review assignment as follows:

Today we completed a warm-up activity to review congruent triangles. We then checked last night's homework. I then reviewed congruent triangles with the students before moving on to 5-6 Similar Triangles. The homework for tonight is to complete Workbook Practice page 5-6 (#1-8 all). The test is Friday and there will be a study session Friday at 8:15 AM.
I am working on grading the "Create a Quiz" Activity and these grades will be posted once they are all graded. Thank you.

Today I passed back the quizzes that we took on Friday. We then went over 5-5 Congruent Triangles. The homework for tonight is to complete the Workbook Practice page 5-5 (#1-6 all). Be sure to list all of the congruent parts. The Chapter 5 Test will be this Friday and there will be a study session on Friday morning at 8:15 am.

Today we reviewed for the geometry vocabulary quiz using the Promethean Board and the "eggs". The homework for tonight is detailed on the slip of paper that I passed out today. You are to create a geometry vocabulary quiz and answer key. There should be 20 problems as follows:
5 fill in the blank
5 True/False
5 Multiple Choice with 4 answer choices
5 Matching (match 5 words to 5 definitions)
You may do this assignment on your computer. This will be an activity grade.
The geometry vocabulary quiz is tomorrow and there will be a study session before school at 8:15 am.
