West Europe Map Test Tomorrow

Today we compared and contrasted the French Revolution with the Industrial Revolution. We then worked in pairs and discussed how the growth of empires in the 1800’s and early 1900’s created an atmosphere of intense competition and tension in the world.

Study for West Europe Map Test

Today we shared our storyboards on the Industrial Revolution and Nationalism with each other and took the 2.3 quiz. We also read 2 articles on the Industrial Revolution and French Revolution and compared and contrast them using a Venn diagram.
Your Homework is to study for the Map Test of West Europe. You need to know the locations of the countries, the capitals and the bodies of water. You may use the following links to help you study.

Industrial Revolution and Nationalism in Europe

Today we discussed and read about the Industrial Revolution and Nationalism in Europe and started a storyboard for what we read. The assignment is written below; make sure you finish it for Homework.
Read 2.3, pages 48-53.
Create a storyboard about the Industrial Revolution and Nationalism in Europe. Make a Cell for each major topic, using chapter text and illustrations to describe scenes. Add Narrative text explaining cause-and-effect relationships, but you MUST include supporting facts and include the key terms. Do this in pencil and then color it.
The map test of West Europe is on Thursday, Sept. 28
th. Use the Links from Friday’s Blog entry to help you study.
You will have the 2.1, 2.2, and 2.3 chapter test on Friday, Sept. 29

We went over the 2.2 quizzes and checked the map of West Europe.
If you were absent on Thursday and have not taken your 2.2 quiz, please come in on Monday morning (the 25th) at 8:15 to take your 2.2 quiz and get your map of West Europe.
The Map test of West Europe will be on Thursday Sept. 28th.
Attached, at the end of today’s entry, you will find some links for you to use to help you study for the map test. If the links do not work, go to a search engine, like Google for example, and type in European map quiz and you will find a large number of sites that will give you some interactive quizzes to help you study. Try to spend about 5 to 10 minutes each night to study for the map test.

Renaissance and Revolution

Today we reviewed facts from 2.1 (Accomplishments of the ancient Greeks and Romans, the importance of Christianity and feudalism to life in the Middle Ages). We then created a “What I think I Know and What I Learned” chart for chapter 2 lesson 2.
Homework tonight: Finish reading 2.2, pages 40-45, and do page 45, #’s 3-6. Write your answers in complete sentences. This is due tomorrow.
FYI- Tomorrow (Wed. the 20
th) is an early release day; students will be dismissed at 2:15.

2.1 Quiz today

Today was our Silent Reading day, we checked our 2.1 notes, we played a review game for the quiz, and then we took the 2.1 quiz.
There is no Homework.
If you were absent today make sure your 2.1 notes are complete (pages 35-39), and be ready to take the 2.1 quiz when you come back to school.

Finish 2.1 Notes

Today we finished taking Power Notes for 2.1 pages 34-39. If you did not finish this in class you need to finish taking Power Notes for Homework. You also need to make up three questions, using your notes, and write the answers. Write your questions and answers on 3 different slips of paper. This is due tomorrow.

We took the Europe and Russia chapter 1 test, and learned how to take Power Notes. If you were absent today please email me at teresa.miceli@cobbk12.org and let me know if you can come in tomorrow morning at 8:05 to take the test. If you can, I will meet you at the front door at 8:05. If you can’t come in tomorrow let me know if you can make it on Thursday. Today we checked our 1.3 assignment and took the 1.3 quiz. We also saw a video on a city in Siberia. Your homework is to study for the chapter 1 test. You might want to re-read the lessons in chapter 1 and use your notebook to help you study.

Finish the 1.3 assignment

Today we worked on the 1.3 assignment in class. If you did not finish, you need to finish it for Homework. On Monday the 11th , we will check the 1.3 assignment in class and take the 1.3 quiz.
1.3 Assignment: Read pages 24-29. Fold a blank sheet of paper in half. On one side Title it Europe then draw and color the natural resources of Europe, and answer the following question at the bottom of the paper: How does West Europe use its natural resources and what have they become because of the natural resources?
On the other side of the paper Title it Russia then draw and color the natural resources of Russia, and explain the following statement at the bottom of the paper: Russia is richer in natural resources, yet they are not generally as wealthy as West Europeans. Give at least 3 reasons for this.
On the inside do #’s 1 & 2 on page 29.

Remember the Chapter 1 test will be on Tuesday the 12
th.

Natural Resources of Europe and Russia

Today was our silent reading day so we read for the first 20 minutes. We then went over lesson 1.3, took the 1.2 Quiz, read 1.3 pages 24-29, and started the assignment. If you were absent be ready to take the 1.2 quiz when you get back and read 1.3 pg. 24-29.
Assignment: Read pages 24-29. Fold a blank sheet of paper in half. 1.2 Quiz tomorrow

Today we made corrections on our homework, took notes from a video on the geography of Europe, and practiced using latitude and longitude. We will have the 1.2 quiz tomorrow. To study, re-read pages 16-21, and use your 1.2 HW to help you study. FYI The chapter 1 test will be on Tuesday September 9th.

Climate and Vegetation

Europe and Russia chapter 1 section 2 Assignment
We started this assignment on Friday and had class time to work on it today, however, if you did not finish the assignment in class you need to finish if for homework tonight.

Read pages 16-21, and then choose ONE of the following:

1. Do page 21, #’s1-6. Write the definitions for #1. For numbers 2, 3, 4, & 5, write your answers in complete sentences. For #6 write at least three paragraphs.

OR

2. Identify the factors that influence climate and vegetation. Explain the cause-and- effect relationship between the factors. Use specific examples from pages 16-21 to support the cause-and-effect relationship. Include all the Key Terms and Key Places in your writing. When you use the Key Terms include the definition for each word. Make sure you write about location relative to large bodies of water, elevation, climate, and vegetation. Write at least 4 paragraphs.

Climate and vegetation of Europe and Russia

Today we went over the 1.1 quiz and discussed the lesson. We also scanned 1.2, pages 16-21 and discussed the factors that effect climate. Students then read the section. If you were not at school today all you will need to do is read chapter 1 section 2, pages 16-21. There is no homework. Enjoy your 3-day weekend.
