Europe and Russia Unit test will be Fri. 12/1/06

Today we took the European Map Test and the Geography Bee Pre-test. If you were absent today you will take the map test in class tomorrow.
Your homework tonight is to study for the Europe and Russia Unit test. Use your notebook to help you study. Remember, the test will cover Chapter 1, 2, 3, and sections 4.5, and 5.4. The Unit test will be on Friday Dec. 1
st.

st and 2nd period, Mr. West’s last day will be on Friday Dec. 1st. If you would like to make him a Thank you card or Best of Luck card for his future teaching, I know it would really mean a lot to him. He has already told me how much he was going to miss being with you.

Map test tomorrow

Today we checked our homework and then took the 3.3 quiz. We read 5.4, pages 161-167 and did pg. 67, #’s 1-5 in class. We also got into groups and developed a product someone in Siberia would want to put their money into to invest. We will share our products on Thursday.

Study for Map test and Unit test

Today we reviewed for the European map test. The map test is on Wednesday Nov. 29th. You will only be tested on the locations of the countries. We also read 3.3 on pages 88-93, which is about the cultures of Russia, and did page 93, #’s 1-5. You need to study for your European Map test and your Europe and Russia Unit Test. Go online and type in “European map quizzes” and you will get several different sites to help you study for the map test. Use your notebook to help you study for the unit test. The unit test will cover chapters 1, 2, 3, and lessons 4.5, and 5.4. The unit test will be on Friday Dec. 1st.

Study for Unit Test and Map Test

Today we continued learning about the leaders of the USSR, and wrote “Who Am I” statements. We also did a hands-on Parking Lot activity: It was the year 1976. The students were citizens of the USSR and they worked as parking lot attendants. Ask your friend about the activity to find out what we did.
Your homework is to study for the Unit Test on Europe and Russia, which will be on Dec. 1
st, and your Map Test of Europe, which will be on November 29th. Use your notebook to help you study for you test.

Today, as we checked homework, we discussed “The Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union.” We then took the 2.5 quiz.

Imperial Russia

Today we discussed the Cold War, and students added notes to what they had completed on their graphic organizer. We then discussed Imperial Russia and took Power Notes on section 2.4, pages 54-59. If you did not finish the 2.4 power notes you need to finish them for homework. There will be a quiz on 2.4 tomorrow.
Here are some dates to keep in mind. There will be a map test of all of Europe on Nov. 29
th, and then there will be a unit test over all of Europe and Russia (chapters 1, 2, 3, 4.5, & 5.4) on Dec. 1st. To review for the map test go use the Internet map quizzes to help you study (just the country location), and take about 5 to 10 minutes each night to study for the unit test. Use your notebook to help you study by going over the quizzes and completed assignments.
Also, PLEASE bring in can goods for the Atlanta Food Bank. The National Junior Honor Society will be collecting from Nov. 13th - Nov. 20
th.

Cold War Graphic Organizer due tomorrow

We read about the Berlin Wall and the Cold War and completed a graphic organizer in class. If you did not finish the graphic organizer you need to finish it for homework. If you would like to receive 5 Bonus points, finish the crossword puzzle on the back of you graphic organizer and turn it in tomorrow. If you would like to receive 15 bonus points then write a compare/contrast essay on the country you researched to the countries you took notes on as you watched the Power Points Presentations. Write at least five paragraphs. Please write neatly or type it. The essay is due on Friday, Nov. 17th.

Food Drive for the Needy

Today we watched bites and pieces of The Dairy of Anne Frank. There is no homework.
The Mabry National Jr. Honor Society will be conducting a can food drive next week for the needy so anything you can bring in to donate will be appreciated.

No Homework

Today we checked the 4.5 Anticipation Guide and watched a video on “Germany after 1945.” We then took the 4.5 quiz and started reading an article entitled “Germany: Industrial Giant.” There is no homework.
We will finish the power point presentation on Monday Nov.6
th.
There is no school for students on Tuesday Nov. 7
th and we will be going on our field trip on Thursday Nov. 9th.

Finish 4.5 Summary

Today we completed the 4.5 Anticipation Guide and wrote a summary of the 4.5 lesson. If you were absent or did not finish the summary you need to finish it for homework.
I want to thank all of you for the donations to the children in Peru; you will put a smile on their faces. Like I have said before, I teach the best students at Mabry; you are wonderful! :)

Tomorrow is the last day to bring in crayons.

Today we discussed the involvement of the USA in the Bosnia-Herzegovina war. We also completed a Germany Anticipation Guide for lesson 4.5. There is not homework.
Tomorrow is the last day to bring in crayons and small activity books that will be given to some orphans in Peru.
