Week of May 14

Book Logs Due Tuesday, May 15

Readers Theater Groups and Story Selections MUST be made by end of class on Monday.

Candy Activities will begin on Tuesday. Bring candy in wrappers with name of candy displayed. Individual size please. We would like a variety, so be creative.

Field Day Wednesday. Bring drinks, lotion, hats and plenty of energy. Remember, no face, or hair painting, no pets allowed.....school rules are in place.

Readers Theater is fun. You may choose plays I have, or search for your own. Bring one copy and I will make copies for your group. Costumes should be minimal. Parents should not make costumes, Be creative and make hats and props from everyday items.

Books will be checked Monday and Tuesday. Bring you Literature Books, Grammar Books and Spelling softcover books. See me, if you have lost one and we will search to see if a classmate has it.

Great job on Persuasive Projects, I will try and have grades posted by Tuesday. I am posting some to the blog, see me if you do not want to share yours.

Week of May 7

All book reports were due last Friday. Grades were given today to students that have turned them in. Late assignments are accepted until Wednesday.

Persuasive Projects should be in Ms Miller folder. I will give grades back as soon as I complete viewing.

Book Logs are due NOW. Grades will be given until May 23 on book logs. If you have read your 25 books and have documentation-turn it in.

Bring Grammar and DEAR books to class everyday.

Persuasive Projects

We are in the MAC Lab all week. Students will produce a project that will show knowledge of strategies and techniques associated with persuasion.

Rubric includes:

  1. Introduction/grab interest (10)
  2. Position or Opinion Statement (10)
  3. Reasons with support(30)
  4. Conclusion: Call for action or solution(10)
  5. Sources cited correctly (MLA)(10)
  6. Mechanics(10)
  7. Neatness(10)
  8. Effort and Creativity(10)
  9. Book Reports are due on Friday. (Tic-Tac)
