"I AM" POEMS

Students wrote "I AM" poems and made Powerpoint presentations and posters to share. This same activity will be used later with their book character study project. Later, I will ask them to write a poem using characters from the Book Chat book or The Outsiders. This project will be done mostly in class after we complete our reading. Examples will be posted at a later date.

Wonderful Wednesday

•Today classes went to the Media Center and completed “Dewey Math.” Students first solved math problems involving decimals, the students went to the nonfiction shelves and located books whose call numbers matched their answers. In order to correctly locate the books, students needed to know correct decimal place values to the thousandth place.
•“The One and Only Me” project was discussed. Rubric was reviewed also. See attachment for rubric and project specifics. Download file

One and Only---Me!!

For homework, create a mini-poster titled “The One and Only—Me!!” Use bullets to tell 25 things about yourself. These need to be in complete sentence form. Have Fun!! Tell about likes, leisure activities, wins, pets, what makes you and your family unique—anything goes! Let your imagination fly. Add a border, make the title in an attractive font, and include your name in the bottom right corner. I would like you to use technology to complete this project, please see me if this is not possible. This project is due Friday, September 9.
