Week of April 17-21

Monday, April 17
1. Give students the CRCT practice tests they completed on Friday. Use answer keys to check and discuss each answer.
2. Review information on p. 248 and 249 in the Write Source book. Students should then highlight compound and complex sentences in their rough draft. Students should look for places to use each kind of sentence.

Homework
Read for 30 minutes and record on Reading Log
Complete 9-10 on your Revising Checklist and add compound and complex sentences to essay.

Tuesday, April 18

1. Go over 9-10 on Revising Checklist. Ask individual students to share responses.
2. Review information on p. 251-254 in the Write Source book.
3. Complete Editing Checklist. Each question should have a good answer and provide examples.

Homework
Read for 30 minutes and record on Reading Log.
Complete Editing Checklist on rough draft.

Wednesday, April 19

1. Students should turn in Editing Checklist and get a homework grade. Each question counts as 25 points. Check while students are working on papers.
2. Class goes to Academy Lab. Students will revise and edit papers. All students papers should be in Essay Builder under Ch. 7.
3. All Revision Checkers should be used on the Prentice Hall Site.

Students should revise and edit essay.

Thursday, April 20
1. Class goes to Academy Lab. Students will trade papers and check each others papers with the Guidelines for Writing a Persuasive Paper.
2. Students should make any changes they need to make to their papers.
3. Students should submit their paper to E-Rater under Ch. 7 School Issues. Students should print out a final copy in Microsoft Word and turn in with their Guidelines for Writing a Persuasive Paper, Revising and Editing Checklist, all rough drafts, Opinion Statement formula & 5Ws.

Homework
Read for 30 minutes and record on Reading Log.
Students should revise and edit essay.

Friday, April 21

1. Class goes to Academy Lab. If all students submitted on Thursday, class should stay in classroom and read silently.
2. Students who submitted their paper should read silently at a table. Others should make any final changes and submit to E-Rater. Students should submit their paper to E-Rater under Ch. 7 School Issues. Students should print out a final copy in Microsoft Word and turn in with their Guidelines for Writing a Persuasive Paper, Revising and Editing Checklist, all rough drafts, Opinion Statement formula & 5Ws.

Take a writing vacation (if anyone is not finished with essay they should complete over the weekend and submit from home).

Seventh Grade

Students will be reading the short story, "Seventh Grade", this week in class. We will identify the tone and theme of story. We will also have some fun with idioms. Parents, you can read the story with your student at the Prentice Hall website.
