January 29th

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. The Caribbean "Report on a Bag" is going so well! Your presenttions are so creative. We will continue presenting on Tuesday.
On Monday, you will have a substitue. I will be at a technology in-service. You will be reading Time for Kids and doing various activities. We will use any remaining time on Tuesday to review 3.2. There will be a quiz on Wednesday.

January 21st

This weekend will give you an opportunity to prepare for our Wednesday and Thursday project. Please get a brown grocery bag. Read 3.2. List five items that you could use in your presentation. For example, a plastic fish or a colorful piece of cloth. The bag and items are to be brought in on Wednesday. Wednsday, you will write a one page presentation of one of the island cultures. Wednesday night you will type or rewrite the presentation. Thursday, you will attach the report to the bag, decorate the bag and practice your presentation. Friday, you will have an opportunity to present your presentation. Have a great weekend! Don't forget on Monday you can dress up to present your RAFT on Cortez(Cortes).

January 18th

Today was a busy day! We checked assignments. Thanks to all who completed their drafts on Cortez. Some of you have submitted your final paper. On Friday, the final paper on Cortez is due. You will have a rubric to evaluate your project. Some classes finished their mini biographies on South American leaders and others began to work on vocabulary for Bingo. The eighteen words are taken from 2.3, 2.4, and 2.5.
Today a group a six students collaborated and came up with a fabulous plan for next Wednesday and Thursday. They will present the introduction tomorrow in each class. Don't forget if you were absent last week, your assignments are due tomorrow.

January 17th

Today we began page 11 in our notebook. Title it 2.4 Independence. 1. Illustrate the three key terms. 2. Make a timeline on Mexican Independence beginng on page 50. 3. Divide page 11B into five sections(approximately). Write a mini biography on each key person. If you did not finish the first two in class today, it is homework.
Your rough draft is due tomorrow. I did not put the exact date on the blog Thursday, Friday, the final copy is due. It must be typed and double-spaced. Check for all spelling and sentence errors.

Sixth period will not meet tomorrow. We will be attending a spelling bee. The other periods will be working on their Cortez RAFT during class.

I am sorry that most of you had difficulty downloading the Cortez file. Please have your parents go to Google and type in PBS Cortez. It should be the first site on the page. Select two topics. Read the topics. We will have an opportunity to work on this tomorrow.

2.2 - We read 2.2 and listed five achievements of the Incas.
Homework-Use these achievements to write a paragraph. Use the topic sentence given in class- The Incas used their environment wisely.
