9 WEEK UNIT: 8TH GRADE

Unit 1: Drama Terms
Stage Terminology and Stage Parts
(Class notes, quiz & unit test)
Unit 2: Pantomime
Learn the components of pantomime
(Class notes, quizzes and perform scenes)
Unit 3: Improvisation
Learn the components of improvisation
(Take notes, quizzes/tests and act out scenes)
Unit 4: Radio Plays/Plays/Skits
Learn about radio shows, plays and skits and then, in small groups, perform one.
(Performance counts as a major test grade, include props from home)
Unit 5: Commercials
Students create a brand new product and a commercial for this product.
This is done in a small group. The project includes a finished written copy & performance for the class.
Unit 6: History of the Musical
Study musicals of the past through the present
(Filmstrip, worksheet/quiz and written test on this unit)
Unit 7: Study of the Musical
An in-depth study of the storyline to the musical, Westside Story
(Worksheets/test) Signing this syllabus gives your child permission to view it.
