2005-06 Honor Chorus Information
Fall of 2005
Dear Parents and Students,
I am happy to offer your child the opportunity of singing in the 6th Annual District XII Middle School Honor Chorus scheduled for November 18, 2005. As your choral director, I am invited to select qualified students to perform in this group. The guidelines used for this selection include their ability to sing on pitch and in their voice part independently. Participants must be outstanding choral students, committed to memorizing the Honor Chorus music and they must attend the Honor Chorus after school rehearsal on Thursday, November 17, 2005 at Kell High School. Registration for Thursday begins at 5:30 p.m. with the rehearsal lasting till 9:00 p.m. They must also be committed to attend the Friday, November 18, 2005 all day rehearsal (registration 8:30 a.m.) and evening performance at Kell High School at 7:30 p.m. Parents are responsible for your child’s transportation to and from the Thursday rehearsal, November 17th and the Friday, November 18th rehearsal and performance. If you cannot attend this school excused absence event please contact me immediately as I have alternates that would love to participate. He or she must be able to be there both days. Your child will be assigned to either the Treble or Mixed Chorus by the coordinator. Please sign and return the attached permission form or let me know if your child cannot attend.
The application fee per student that qualifies is $35.00 (non-refundable). This covers:
1. Honor Chorus T-Shirt (to be worn at the concert with long jeans)
2. A professionally prepared rehearsal CD with enhanced voice parts
3. Rental/Custodial fees at the venue
4. Set-up and recording for the performance
5. Clinician/Accompanist fees
6. Lunch-paper plates, cups, etc. (pizza, drink and cookies)
7. Certificates, Programs, Invitations, etc.
8. Music for the Treble Chorus or the Mixed Chorus
This year the choral groups will be smaller in size so your commitment to this event is very important. I need these forms back ASAP.
I could use a parent to assist on November 17th (afternoon/eve) and 18th with lunch, bathroom breaks, etc. Please let me know if you can spend the day with us. We will also get a dinner break. I would like to take them somewhere to eat on Friday, Nov. 18th if I have enough chaperones that can come at 5:00 p.m. to drive them prior to the start of the concert. Let me know if you can assist for the dinner break. (If not, they will have to bring a bag dinner.)
This is truly like a mini local All State Chorus event and the concert performance will blow you away. The students also get to meet other singers from the District 12 area. Please fill out the permission form for your commitment to this event. Finally, place your $35 in a school envelope marked Honor Chorus Registration and place it in the drop box for your grade level. We had a wonderful time last year so I hope that you will consider being a part of this rewarding experience.
