7th Grade- Week 7

This week students have been engaging in and practicing the team sports that will be offered next week during Field Day. Be aware that next week will only consist of 2 days in PE due to the grade level Field Days.

7th Grade- Week 6

We have finished our Lacrosse Unit and will be testing on it in the next week or so. Friday was our Basketball test from our last unit. We will beginning a new unit on Monday.

7th Grade- Week 5

Students are into week 2 of their Lacrosse Unit. We have been working on ground balls and catching/throwing. Catching and throwing are essential for the game of Lacrosse. We will begin game play next week. Progress reports went home today.

**Students may bring their own sticks starting Monday. However, we are NOT responsible for items left in the PE office.

7th Grade- Week 4

Students have had an altered schedule this week for Connections due to the CRCT. Students began their Lacrosse unit on Monday. We will having our Basketball unit test next week. Congratulations to the Championship winning teams:

7th Grade- Week 3

Students finished up their regular season play on Tuesday and began the Championship round on Wednesday. One game will be played each day to figure out 1st - 6th place respectively. Below are the regular season leaders....

7th Grade- Week 1

Students began their Basketball Unit this week. We learned dribbling and passing skills as well as rules. Students played pick up games to practice rules and learn the fluidness and teamwork of the game.

Students completed their Volleyball tournament on Thursday and will have a unit test today.

7th Grade- Week 7

We have completed the regular season and begun playoffs in our Volleyball unit. Teams are playing well and below are the top offensive and defensive teams per class.

These are regular season statistics:

7-1 Offensive leaders with 70 points scored: Da Bait 4 Da Fish
Defensive leaders with 38 points allowed: Da Bait 4 Da Fish

7-2 Offensive leaders with 76 points score: Coo Coo Cachoo

Defensive leaders with 46 points allowed: Coo Coo Cachoo

Teams are selected by the students with a gender rule imposed by me: 3 boys and 3 girls. In some cases a team might have 1 extra player depending on class make-up. Teams may only play with members of their team and must play short due to any absences.

7th Grade- Week 6

Students finished the regular season of our Volleyball tournament. The playoffs and championship game will be held next week. Progress reports were given out Wednesday and were supposed to be brought back signed the next day.

7th Grade- Week 5

Students finished up their dance unit last week with an original dance created by their group. Many of them were very good! This week began our Volleyball unit and students are learning positioning, passing, setting, and serving underhand/overhand. Once students have a base of knowledge for skills we will have a tournament in class.

7th Grade- Week 3

Students have done line dancing all this week as part of our rhythms and dance unit. They have learned the Electric Slide and the Cha Cha Slide. Students created their own groups and will create their own dance, within specified guidelines, for a grade. They will have 3-4 days next week to create their masterpiece.

7th Grade PE- Week 5

This week we continued our second week of our Softball unit. We played outside a few days, weather permitting, and got an idea of everyone's level of play (inside information for picking tournament teams!) Towards the end of the week we picked those teams but haven't been able to play full tournament game yet. Due to weather we stayed in on Thurs. and Fri. and played lead up games involving batting and fielding. Next week is the holiday....so no blog.

We finished our Soccer Unit today and the written test will be tomorrow. Students have been engaging in game play for the better part of 3 weeks and the written test will reflect the scenarios they have seen on a daily basis. The study guide below will assist them. 7th Grade PE- Week 2

We began our Soccer unit this week but due to the rain we were unable to play every day. Students got to play practice games and see each other's skill before they will pick tournament teams next week. We learned some basic rules such as starting play, throw-ins, and procedures after a goal is scored. We will play a regular season and playoffs to get a class champion.

7th Grade PE- Week 8

This week we started a mini-unit on Basketball. We completed a skills-station day and have played a "mini-tournament. On Thursday it was simply to nice out and we decided to go to the park and play whiffleball of the baseball diamond. Connections (for some) change next Tuesday, and grades will be complete for you students by 12:00pm today.

New Connections

As of next Wednesday your student might no longer be in PE. They will be switching connections next week (the end of the 1st nine weeks). Those with Band, Orchestra, etc. may have a different connection next grading period.

This week flag football teams competed in the playoff schedule and championship games. On Friday they completed their flag football written test. This covered basic terminology, rules, strategy, game play, etc. Next week is our final full week of the grading period. 7th Grade PE- Week 6

Students completed regular season play this week and will begin NFL/NHL style playoffs on Monday. Championship games will be played on Thursday. The Flag football unit test will be on Friday. A study guide will be posted soon. Congratulations to the following teams...

7th Grade PE- Week 5

7th grade began their flag football unit this week with pick-up games and instruction on specific positions, terminology, and basic play. On Wednesday, teams were picked for regular season play and playoffs. This unit will finish on 9/29.

7th Grade PE- Week 2

We have begun our unit on Ultimate Frisbee. The first few days were spent on lead-up skills games such as "Mark and Bark" and "Ultimate 4-Square". Mark and Bark is designed to utilize the short throws and quick releases needed for Ultimate. Ultimate 4-Square is important to develop the accuracy and distance throwing. We finished up the week with "mini games" and full court games.
