Today we learned about Measures of Variation and how they differ from Measures of Central Tendency. We also learned how to find the Measures of Variance.
Homework is:
3rd period: TB page 493, 1-4
4th 5th, and 6th period: Hand-out 10-2, problems 1,2,3,4, 8,and 9.
All classes, show all work on notebook paper just like we did in class and you did on your notes!
Tomorrow is DEAR so remember to bring a Chapter book to last for 30 minutes.

Student's finished their quiz from yesterday and we started the lesson on Measures of Variation. 4th, 5th, and 6th period classes got their quizzes back today and 3rd period will get theirs back tomorrow.
Homework is to define the 6 terms given in class using your textbook. The terms are:
median
lower extreme
upper extreme
lower quartile
upper quartile
inter-quartile range

Today student's took a quiz covering Measures of Central Tendency, Using Measure of Central Tendency, Finding Missing Data from the Mean, and Stem and Leaf Plots.
Homework for tonight is pg. 761, Lesson 9-2, problems 1, 2, and 3. Show work for each problem. You may use any problem solving strategy.

Today we learned how to make and analyze stem and leaf plots. If you were not in class today, please refer to section 10-1 in your textbook.
Homework is the 4 problems that were handed out in class today. Please answer the questions on notebook paper. If a problem asks you to explain or describe, you must use COMPLETE sentences with proper grammar and punctuation.
Remember to bring a chapter book to class tomorrow for DEAR!

Today we learned about the Measures of Central Tendencies: mean, median, and mode. We also learned about range.
HW is textbook (TB) page 305, problems 6 - 13. Students may use a calculator to solve these problems.

Today the student's finished their Pre-test. Just as a reminder to parents, the Pre-Test is NOT for a grade in the grade book. It will serve as a bench mark to show growth and progress throughout the year.
Homework for tonight is to complete the Self-Portrait given out in class today. This is your first homework assignment and it will be checked in class tomorrow.
I will issue books and we will being reviewing Measures of Central Tendency (mean, median, and mode).

What a terrific first day! It was so good to actually meet everyone. After writing your names so many times last week, I am excited to be able to put a name with a face.
Math 7, we will take the Pre-test tomorrow and you will have two days to complete it. This is a Pre-test only and will NOT count as a grade in the grade book. You will need a number two pencil or mechanical pencil and notebook paper.
