2-08-07 Test

Today we reviewed the homework from last night, TEST REVIEW, and then took the test on Similarity, Congruence, and Dilations.

I am concerned with the number of students who did NOT complete their homework last night. COMPLETE IT TONIGHT FOR HALF CREDIT, but more importantly, complete it to make sure you understand the material. Students will have an opportunity to finish the test in class tomorrow as most did not finish today.

HW: Re-work homework problems from this unit! Bring a book for DEAR.

WE WILL BE STARTING A UNIT ON CONSTRUCTIONS NEXT WEEK. YOU NEED TO BRING A "SAFETY COMPASS" TO CLASS ON MONDAY!

2-6-07 Ratio of Areas of Similar Shapes

Today we learned about the ratio of areas of similar shapes.

Class Notes are below.....

Ratio Of Areas

Homework is on the last page of the class notes:
Draw and label 2 similar triangles. Compute their similarity ratio and ratio of their areas. Show your calculations to prove your answers. (total of 4 shapes)

Draw and label 2 similar rectangles or parallelograms. Compute their similarity ratio and the ratio of their areas. Show your calculations to prove your answers.

As a side note....I have been sick since last Thursday and have not gotten the most recent quiz grades on I-Cue. I will do my best to get I-Cue current by Wednesday afternoon. Thank you for your understanding.
