« Welcome to the Write~Spot! | Main
Thank you for visiting your language arts blog today.
Today you will begin your research project and will be going to the media center. We are scheduled to do research in the media center for five days.
Today, Mrs. Hendrix will inform you about the topic selection, the sources that are available to you, how to do fill out note cards, plus more!
In class, I will provide a large brown envelope for you to keep your research materials together.
You are to have 100 3X5 white note cards today. Your notecards should be in a Zip Lock Baggy.
(If you do not have a baggy at home, I have a few extras; you do not need to as your pareents to buy baggies. We will pool our resources for this requirement.)
You should have recorded the note card requirement in your agenda Thursday AND Friday of last week.
You will receive a calendar to record important dates and reading materials on the research process. Record all of these dates in your agenda.

For homework, refer to your agenda each evening AND investigate the following sites for guidance. Reading to learn is part of the research process; reading ABOUT how to do research is an important part of this study. Carefully review the items below and use your "Close-Reading" strategies so you can apply the information and knowledge:
RESEARCH GUIDE:
You will need the research booklet that Cobb County uses. Download this and bring to class January 17 or 18. (If you have computer problems and cannot do this, bring a note from your parents to varify to avoid a No Homework Deduction.)
Go to the following site to download. Keep this packet in your research folder.

READING TIP:
Read and re-read very carefully the handouts provided for the research process. There are many little details you must keep in mind as you research and write about your topic.
Basic Steps of the Research Process:
Explore this site carefully. Refer to it often as we move through the steps of the research process.
