« Welcome to the Write~Spot! | Main
Thank you for visiting your language arts blog!
This is the week for CRCT testing and I know you will do well!
Bring number two pencils (At least 3).
PLEASE think ahead and bring your pencils already sharpened.
Critical Dates:
4/18 ~ On Wednesday you will have a quiz on the Daily Oral Language sentences.
4/19 ~ On Thursday you will have a test on complex, simple, compound sentences. (Sources: WAG book, Grammar Workbook).
4/20 ~ On Friday you will have a quiz on spelling list #3. You have a study guide handout in your folder.
During class~we will continue to review and enrich parts of speech, and grammar topics. This week will focus on verb review (Irregular verbs, direct and indirect objects, and verb tenses). Carefully view your Grammar Workbook and WAG textbook. Remember, you have wonderful sources to add to your personal understanding: OWL + Perdue site and the site referenced in the last blog posting.
Strong students that excell often go beyond the sources which are used in class. REMEMBER: Take charge and add to your learning bank.
Begin to view the literary terms on your handout. By doing this daily for a short period of time you will be better prepared for next week's quiz.
Portfolio writing for this week: Work on your expository writing that models the book 101 Secrets a Good Dad Knows. Refer to the handout that was to be attached in your folder. DUE DATE: You may turn your essay in Thursday, Friday, or Monday. On this assignment you may use any font, however, you must double space. You may do in regular page format, or you may do as a brochure.
NOT SO TOP SECRET TIP:
Make sure you bring your folder to class each day; I will do grade checks throughout the week; your folder should be neat and organized, and it must be with you from the first minute of class. (Hmmm . . . this means not at home and not in your locker!)
