Meet Our New 7th Grade Japanese Friends from Arao
The 7th grade students at Arao City Daisan Middle School all study English with their English teacher, Masa. In this podcast, which we made right after lunch, several students were brave enough to practice their English greetings by trying them out for this podcast. They did a great job. They can certainly speak English better than we can speak Japanese!
Enjoy meeting our new 7th grade Japanese friends!

Dr. Tyson,
What an amazing thing to here all of those young children not any older than us speak better in English than we could imagine speaking currently in Japanese. Why doesn't Mabry offer Japanese as a language? You stress the importance of making world-wide bonds, yet that is quite difficult when you have no instruction. Although French and Spanish are usefull, Japanese would be an awsome language to teach, don't you think so too? Domo Arigato for your time!

Hi Alice,
Working within the constraints of limited resources is always a challenge for any organization. Perhaps if the programatic and funding emphasis of No Child Left Behind stressed maximized achievement rather than minimum standards, the resources for language study would increase.
