Mr. Welborn
Mr. Welborn has taught bands at Mabry since 1993. Under his direction Mabry bands have enjoyed consistent superior ratings at the Georgia Music Educators District 12 Band Festival. Additionally, Mabry regularly places students in the Georgia All State Band and District Honor Bands.
In both 1997 and 2000 the Mabry Band received and accepted invitations to perform at the National Festival of States in Washington D.C. Most recently the band has been invited to perform at the 2007 Georgia Music Educators Association's annual conference in Savannah, GA.
Mr. Welborn received his Masters in Leadership Administration from Georgia State University (2000) and has Bachelors of Music Education from the
University of Southern Mississippi (1993). A french hornist, he has performed twice at the prestigious Midwest International Band and Orchestra Convention in Chicago, IL; once with the Tara Winds Community Band (2001), and once with the Cobb County Community Band (2003). He is also an FAA certified flight instructor and commercially-rated pilot. He and his wife Kerry have one child, Ryan.
