Mrs. Jennings
Mrs. Jennings is one of our outstanding special education teachers. She has a passion for teaching math (she actually thinks math is ‘fun’) and loves teaching reading this year. Before teaching, she worked in human resources as a recruiter and then in sales for the Hershey Corporation. After staying home to raise her 3 sons, she returned to the workforce in 1997. Instead of returning to the world of business, she decided instead to return to school and get her teaching certification. She’s been a part of the Mabry family for nine years, working by day and going to school in the evenings and on weekends. Mrs. Jennings loves to spend time with her husband and three boys, two at Lassiter and one at UGA. Her passions are sports (especially football), music, cooking, reading, traveling, and the theater.
“I absolutely love getting up in the morning to come to work. I feel like the luckiest person in the world. I work with a staff that is not only professional but cares so much about each other and about the students they teach. My students are the best! Sometimes I feel like I learn as much from them as they do from me. My greatest pleasure is to watch the expressions on their faces when they finally say, 'I get it.' My philosophy is summed up in only three words: Opportunity is now here! Just like that glass of water that is either half empty or half full, I try to teach my students that success depends on how they look at it."
