Mrs. Krodman

Mrs. Krodman Seven of Mrs. Krodman's twenty years of teaching experience have been at Mabry Middle School. The remaining thirteen years were in three public school districts in three different states and one private school. Her experience covers first, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grades. Though she began her teaching career in regular education, her true passion in education is working with students who have special learning needs. Mrs. Donna Krodman is one of the outstanding special education teachers at Mabry. She says that this is the place where she feels her teaching really matters.

"Teachers are always pleased to receive gifts from students, and the best gifts I have ever received at the end of the year came this past school year when two parents wrote very special emails to me, and three former students came by to visit during the last week of school. Those are gifts that won't be discarded or put in the back of a closet; they will be with me always."

Her personal hobbies include reading, enjoying her family and friends, learning, and collecting...well, shoes ;-) Mrs. Krodman grew up in Fort Worth, Texas; the eldest of four children (two girls and two boys.) She graduated from the University of Texas (The real UT not the one in Tennessee they talk about around here.) Upon graduation, she moved to Houston where she taught in HISD for 3 1/2 years. During that time, she met and married the love of her life, her husband Steve. They have been married 28 years.

As Steve began to move up the corporate ladder, the Krodmans began a series of moves that would take them to four different states (two of them twice) and seven different houses. They have two beautiful, bright and successful grown up daughters, Melissa and Jocelyn. Their daughters have always loved animals and they have been parents to several: Their first cat Stripes, three hamsters, Leona Hamsley, Mocha, and Cinnamon, an Arabian horse, Mi Anam, and their current loves: two cats, Hakuna and Matata. They are affectionately known as Kuna and Ta. Can you tell they got them when The Lion King was a big hit?

The Krodmans are active members of Congregation Etz Chaim in Marietta where Mrs. Krodman serves on the board and co-chairs the College Connection committee. This committee provides care packages to their college students at holiday times to remind them of their religious and spiritual ties to their community. Also, Mrs. Krodman serves on the Chesed, or empathy, committee. This group provides meals of mourning for families returning from the funeral of a loved one and gift baskets for members recovering from illness, surgery, or celebrating the birth of a new baby.
