Mrs. Parker

Mrs. Parker Mrs. Betty Parker is our Special Education Lead Teacher. She is an extraordinary resource for the parents of our special education students. She has worked in the field of education for 34 years and been at Mabry for 14. She taught special education students, self-contained, for 28 years before becoming our Special Education Lead Teacher.

Anyone that knows Mrs. Parker knows of her unending love of animals. Presently she has 5 cats and 2 dogs and is acting as a foster mom for a mother cat and her 2 kittens. She actively supports Good Muse, Cats in the Cradle, the Humane Society of the US, and other organizations that support and protect animals. Mrs. Parker is also very active in her church and works with MUST Ministries providing support to the homeless.

She is from a military background and has lived in many states all over the US, to include: New York, New Jersey, Texas, Florida (Pensacola and Key West, where she was born), Virginia (2 different times), Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, and Mississippi. She also lived in Naples, Italy, and was frequently seen riding her motorcycle around the Colosseum in Rome. While living abroad, she traveled throughout Europe extensively.

Mrs. Parker genuinely loves working with parents, getting to know them when their child is having learning problems. She strongly believes that mutual work between the school and home is utterly essential to getting to the bottom of learning problems and solving them. But her greatest passion is knowing and working with an individual child, watching them blossom when they think they can't and discover that they really can and are in fact very capable learners.
