Mrs. Rosengren
Mrs. Mary Rosengren is the Mabry Middle School Secretary. She has been working for Cobb County schools for 25 year and began as a substitute teacher in the 80’s. She has been a special ed parapro at Kincaid Elementary, worked at the “The Children’s Center” in Marietta, which was later named The Hawthorne Center in Smyrna and is now called Haven Academy. After working there for several years, Mrs. Rosengren transferred to Central Alternative. In 1996, she became the secretary for Mabry Middle School and has called Mabry home for 10 years.
Mrs. Rosengrean and her husband of almost 40 years, Erik, employed with IBM for 36 years have three children, twin boys who were born in Germany and a daughter who was born in New Jersey. The Rosengrens moved to Marietta from New Jersey 27 years ago. She says that she will never return and states, "In fact, I am still trying to lose the Jersey accent!"
Mrs. Rosengren has three grandchildren and one great grandchild. The eldest child is Erik (yes, another Erik in the family) is 20 years old and in the National Guard for training; he has a daughter, Ansley, Mrs. Rosengren's great granddaughter, who is 2. Her next grandchild is Isabella (named after her great great grandmother), she is 8, and she resides in North Caroline with her mother. Last, but not least, is Tyler. He is Mrs. Rosengren's daughter’s son. He is 5 years old and beginning school this year. He says he really enjoys riding the “big boy’s bus” to school.
What a fun time it is at the Rosengren house during the Christmas holidays. Mrs. Rosengren loves spending time with her family, watching the Braves and Falcons with Tyler, who calls her “His GaGa”, and shopping with her daughter and grandson. Mrs. Rosengren also enjoy reading, gardening, and working on the computer. Mrs. Rosengren's father-in-law, Erik, who she refers to as her dad, is still living. As a result, they have 5 generations of Rosengrens. They take good care of their dad.
Mrs. Rosengren states, "I take great pride in Mabry, telling anyone who is willing to listen just how great our school is, not just our test results but also our technology. Our staff is the best, willing to help out anyone at anytime. Our students are the best, for their eagerness to learn, and of course, our parents who pitch in at a moment’s notice to make Mabry the Super School it is."
