Mrs. Worthington
Mrs. Cathy Worthington is one of our 7th grade Language Arts teachers. She has a rich career as an educator, having taught for over 33 years! She brings a wealth or perspective and expertise to Mabry and is also our Language Arts Coordinator at Mabry. Mrs. Worthington is presently working on her doctorate in education and is often doing homework and research in the evenings. She enjoys being a teacher during the day and a student in the evenings and on weekends.
In her free time, you will often catch Mrs. Worthington with a calligraphy pen in hand as she pens quotes, poems, awards, and posters for her classroom. (By the way, if you are interested in learning calligraphy this year, you might be able to persuade her to have some morning sessions!) You will rarely catch her without a book in hand, and she challenges her students to join her to reach way above the 25-book goal. On the weekends, you will often find her visiting local bookstores. The trip is a special success if she finds a new book for the classroom; each Monday she does a book chat for the new book addition for the classroom library. You might say she is a bit book crazy and proud of it!
Collections abound in the Worthington house: quotable quotes, picture books, humorous monster characters, calligraphy pens, bookmarks, logic puzzles, word-play activities, interesting words, and tidbits of trivia are just some of the things she likes to collect.
When asked who her favorite authors are, she will, without hesitation, say: “My talented young authors at Mabry Middle School, of course!”
