"I love my job! I love math! If you don't now, hopefully when you enter my room we can change that!" Ms. Moncrieff has a theory that anyone can learn math when it is explained in a manner that they understand. All of a sudden math actually becomes fun!
Ms. Moncrieff has taught for 13 years in the Cobb County system, all grades from 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th and all subjects from Language Arts, Reading, Social Studies to Math. However, she is happy to say that she is doing exactly what she enjoys the most: teaching 8th grade math!! She loves the feeling of seeing the "light go off" in a student's head when he or she finally understands something with which they have struggled. *
Ms. Moncrieff has also tutored extensively from home for eight years in all levels of math through high school. She believes that this experience has had an incredible impact on her teaching.
She was fortunate to be awarded the Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year for 2005, a tremendous award, since it is a result of student nominations. (And yes, she now even has her very own blue vest.)
And for fun? Well, this summer, Ms. Moncrieff has completed some projects around the house, traveled to Montana, Canada, Washington State, Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina. She has visited friends from college, and friends she met in the third grade!! She has even managed some pool time! You can catch her most days fitting in time for the gym, working in the yard, cooking or just enjoying life with two teenagers!
Ms. Moncrieff is quick to say that "Life is fun*.Life is good*Anyone a Gamecock fan?" She went to the University of South Carolina for her undergraduate degree and attended Georgia State for her Masters in Education. This will be her 6th year at Mabry, and she is looking forward to a great year!
