Ms. Suzanne Scott was born in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and grew up the youngest of 2 in an army family. After living in Germany, Alabama, Kansas, and Long Beach, California, she and her family decided to move to Douglasville, Georgia, where she completed her high school career. Ms. Scott earned a Bachelors of Music degree from Georgia State University, and just completed a Masters of Music Education degree from the University of Illinois. Ms. Scott came to Mabry in 2000, and this is now her 7th year of teaching!
Ms. Scott began her musical career at a bright and early age of 4, with piano lessons. Several years later she began playing the trumpet (it was in the house, left by an older cousin, and she began teaching herself!) and was immediately hooked! She's performed in jazz bands, brass ensembles, community bands, funk, soul, and ska bands all before the age of 20. Although her sights were set on performance, she fell in love with teaching and discovered the joys of working with young musicians. During the school year she does everything she can to maximize her students' potential, but even when the academic year is done, she is found working with other young musicians in music camp settings.
Although Ms. Scott loves relaxing at home with her two dogs-Ella and Pa-Du-Gee-she will attempt to accomplish two of her "life's goals" in the near future: complete a triathlon and run a marathon.
