Mrs. McCrery

Mrs. GlennMrs. Trish McCrery teaches 8th grade Math. After staying at home for the past three years to raise her two young children, she is very excited to be returning to Mabry Middle School. She previously taught 8th grade math at Mabry for 2 years before her daughter was born. Prior to that, she taught 6th and 7th grade math at Smitha Middle School for over 6 years. Originally from the Midwest, she grew up in Galesburg, Illinois. After attending Southern Illinois University for two years, she transferred to Knox College where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Educational Studies. She then moved to Atlanta to begin her teaching career and received her Master's Degree in Middle Childhood Education from Georgia State University.

She enjoys staying active with activities such as tennis, running (she is currently training for the Thanksgiving Day Half-Marathon), and keeping up with a 6 year old boy and 3 year old girl. "That's the best exercise ever!" Last year she challenged herself both physically and mentally and completed the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk. "Walking 60 miles in three days was much more difficult than I thought it would be. It was a life changing experience in so many ways." Her family also enjoys traveling, and they try to fit in a ski trip every winter. Her favorite college football team is the Auburn Tigers (her husband's alma mater). Other activities she really enjoys include reading and cooking. Spending time with her family, though, is definitely a priority each and every day.

She always knew that she wanted to be a teacher. "I used to 'play school' with my siblings and friends when I was little, and I was always the teacher. I also had a very special 7th grade teacher whom I deeply admired. I truly hope that I can be as much of an inspiration to my students as she was to me."
